The Okkie Jooste Camp
My time at the Okki Jooste Nature reserve was awesome and I really enjoyed it. The time I spent there was worthwhile and the activities that we were doing we fun and educational. We did team building activities since we were divided into teams and a whole lot of other activities such as the mammal trapping, frog talk, Greek Mythology and etc. The activity that I enjoyed the Most was the Greek Mythology. The presenter was Dr M. Hendricks and I felt that he was very good in his talk and he made me to be interested about the subject even beyond his presentation.
I felt really good because I also got time to cook with my teammates and with the professional chefs Donovan and Denzil. The chefs were amazing with their work and I also took some cooking tips as well. The one thing which was challenging for me though when it was my turn in the chicken was to wake up at 06:00 am since I am not really used to it but once I was there everything was smooth.
I loved everything about the Camp and most importantly I was not cooking for my self every day like I am used to in my room. The classes that I attended there were really educational about the geographic location of the place, the type of climate and the vegetation. I got time to feel the place myself when I went to hiking and it was beautiful and tiring at the same time. The camp overall got me to appreciate nature even more with activities such as the river ecology which I felt highlighted very important points about the health of the ecosystem. Therefore with the whole experience I had there I would even go back on my own even if it is not the same nature reserve but any here in the Western Cape or in South Africa.
